Caring for full dentures
Instructions for cleaning and maintaining removable dentures
- Cleaning and brushing the denture and the teeth is done after each meal and in the evening before bed, even if you have not eaten in the evening;
- The denture should be brushed with a nail brush, with soap and cold water;
- To avoid the build-up of tartar and tobacco stains, it is recommended once a week, at night, to keep the denture in a glass of water and vinegar or to use a Corega tablet;
- Do not clean the denture with boiling water, chemicals, alcohol or abrasive powders of the Tix type, as they degrade the acrylic material;
- The denture is worn day and night until you get used to it, and after that it can be kept overnight in a glass of water;
- With a complete denture, it is recommended to avoid biting directly into hard foods (e.g. apple, sandwiches, meat, fruit, vegetables); these should be cut into small pieces and chewed on the back teeth;
- Return for a check-up after 24 hours, then at 6 months and periodically at 12 months;
Note: Dentures with special systems require relining (rebuilding the interior of the denture) and replacement of the silicone gaskets once a year in order to increase their service life.
