Care after extraction
CARE INSTRUCTIONS AFTER EXTRACTIONS
1. DO NOT RINSE ALL DAY!!!
2. Keep the compression dressing (the gauze applied) in place for at least 2 hours, after which, if needed, you may take an analgesic or an algocalmin;
3. Do not put your tongue or finger into the socket left after the extraction;
4. Do not eat anything until the anaesthesia has completely worn off; after that you may eat carefully, avoiding the extraction site. The foods consumed on the first day should be neither very hot nor very cold (straight from the fridge). Do not consume any kind of alcoholic drink. Avoid dairy products;
5. On the first day, rinse your mouth only very gently, after meals. In the following days it is advisable to clean your mouth energetically and thoroughly;
6. Avoid smoking for a few hours (6-8) after the procedure.
The purpose of all these instructions is to protect the blood clot that forms at the extraction site in the dental socket, which is the best dressing and promotes healing. These instructions also aim to prevent bleeding, since rinsing the mouth too vigorously on the first day, consuming very hot or very cold foods, or alcoholic drinks, encourages the onset of bleeding.
